How to Make Home Made Frugal Liquid Dish Soap

Dirty Dishes On The Sink

As a family of five, dishes can pile up very quickly around our home. We have always used a natural liquid dish washing soap for as long as I can remember. We want to avoid toxins as much as we can. However, the dish soap that is purchased at the health food store can get pricey when washing as many dishes as we do.  Recently, we discovered how to make our own. This has saved us money and it takes just a few minutes to make.

  • 1/2 cup liquid castile soap (I like to use Dr. Bronner’s lavender scented soap.)
  • 1/8 cup water
  • Scent as desired with essential oils of your choice. Do this step only if using unscented castile soap.
  • 1 tsp. of vinegar.
  • One recycled liquid dish soap container

I like to mix everything together and store it in a recycled liquid dish soap container, or containers that I find at the dollar store. I hope that you enjoy making this simple recipe as much as I do!
